RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES HAWAII 5K RED SHOE FUN WALK
IS LIVE, IN-PERSON AND BETTER THAN EVER!

Join the fun for a good cause at Ala Moana Center on Sunday, March 24

HONOLULU, February 27, 2024 – For the first time, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii’s 5K Red Shoe Fun Walk is a live and in-person event at Ala Moana Center.

“We kicked off the Red Shoe 5K in 2021 during the pandemic as a virtual event to help support our fundraising efforts since everything was shut down,” said RMHC Director of Development Candace Asam-Lopez. “We had a successful virtual run, bike, or walk for three years thanks to our generous donors, but now we feel that by coming together in person at Ala Moana Center this event will be even more fun and family friendly.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities is looking for participants to join individually or to form a team to help raise funds for its mission. Walkers have the option to participate in person or virtually. Registration is only $20 and $25 for virtual participants. It’s easy to register by visiting RonaldHouseHawaii.org then click on the Red Shoe 5K registration link. For questions, call us at (808) 892-1906 or email RockYourSocks5K@rmhchawaii.org.

All registrants receive RMHC’s signature red and white striped socks, a walk bib and a McDonald’s Be Our Guest coupon. And, the first 300 registrants receive a Red Shoe 5K logoed canvas tote bag courtesy of Uniqlo at Ala Mona Center – a $30 value! Post your photo for our Show Your Socks photo challenge on Instagram and tag us using the hashtag #RockYourSocks. Families will vote for their favorite to select a winner. Photos may appear on RMHC's social media and website.

Thousands of families in Hawaii have been touched by the hospitality and services provided when staying at the Ronald McDonald Houses in Manoa. All proceeds go toward assisting families with keiki who stay at Ronald McDonald Houses while receiving medical care on Oahu. Funds raised by participants and donors to the Red Shoe 5K go directly to programs and services to ease the financial and emotional stress during a keiki’s medical journey. RMHC Hawaii has provided a home-away-from-home with lodging, warm meals, transportation, and other family services since opening in 1987 thanks to the generosity of our island community.
