Event Details

SALT at Our Kaka‘ako marks two milestones on the evening of June 17, with a celebration full of fun and culture. Our Kaka‘ako presents the SALT at Our Kaka‘ako Dedication Celebration: featuring Honolulu Night Market and the Polynesian Voyaging Society Hōkūle‘a Homecoming, from 5 to 10 p.m.

The celebration officially dedicates SALT at Our Kakaʻako, which has evolved as a community gathering place that features an exciting mix of retailers, restaurants and discoveries. SALT at Our Kakaʻako will host two stages of live music and entertainment throughout the event. Entertainers include local favorites Kapena and Kupaoa at the Ala Moana Center Boulevard stage, and Kimie Miner and Taimane on the Auahi Street stage.

Artists who helped create SALT at Our Kakaʻako’s unique look will also be honored, including Kamea Hadar, co-founder from POW! WOW! Hawaii. Hadar painted SALT at Our Kakaʻako’s distinctive two-sided mural on its parking structure, depicting the story of Naupaka. The artwork at SALT at Our Kakaʻako reinforces its connection to local traditions and values.

Our Kakaʻako will join the celebration, with the return of the Honolulu Night Market. Keawe and Auahi Streets will be closed off to feature a variety of food and retail vendors, live music including three concert stages, entertainment and more.

The night’s festivities also mark the return of the Polynesian Voyaging Society canoe Hōkūle‘a, after a three-year voyage around the world. A special screening of a documentary about Hōkūle‘a’s journey will be shown in the courtyard at the Flats at Pu‘unui, located at 440 Keawe in the innovative Our Kakaʻako. The legendary canoe is scheduled to arrive to O‘ahu earlier that day. Disney’s acclaimed animated film “Moana” will also be screened.

SALT at Our Kaka‘ako is still evolving, with exciting new businesses coming this year and more events for the community to enjoy. For more information, please visit www.saltatkakaako.com.
