In 2006, Food and Wine named Vino one of "America's 50 Most Amazing Wine Experiences." Created by Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya and restaurateur D.K. Kodama, Vino reflects the energy and passion of two partners who love great food and wine. "Chuck Furuya, quite apart from quietly being one of the most competitive blind tasters and pool players on the planet, is a great sommelier and leader in the profession. He knows a lot about a lot of subjects, but he most of all loves sharing his knowledge with the community. His reputation across the globe and his teaching contributions to young sommeliers have put Hawaii on the map as a wine destination," said Larry Stone, Master Sommelier and General Manager for Rubicon Estate. The essence of Vino is this joy and love of sharing a glass of good wine among friends. Modeled after an Italian enotecca, the rustic, warm ambience of the restaurant is the ideal setting for Furuya to share his enthusiasm and expertise with guests. The relaxed, convivial atmosphere allows everyone who visits Vino to feel as if they are part of the extended "Vino family." When the restaurant was opened in 2004, both partners had a desire to create a dining experience that offered great food, fabulous wines, and good fun. The concise 60 plus bottled wine list and more than a dozen wines by the glass, that are also offered in 2 oz tasting pours, allow guests to explore wines from across the globe. The selections and prices reflect Furuya's commitment to providing guests with great value and opportunities to enjoy wines that are not often found on local wine lists. At the restaurant, guests can enjoy an intimate dinner for two at a cozy table or lounge on a comfy couch with family and friends. The menu at Vino is authentic, quality cuisine. Pan Roasted "Ligurian" Shrimp, Mini Veal Osso Buco, and House Made Ravioli are some of the items on the menu, which features an assortment of freshly made pastas and pizzas.
