Join us for a hands-on STEM learning experiences. Teachers, students, and parents are welcome to drop by the store to participate in this 30-minute project-based learning experience. The project is designed for 11 to 14-year-old students but can easily be completed by younger students with parental support.
By the end of the experience, participants will have learned:
• How to build a Seismograph using everyday objects and explore modern engineering techniques (Tuned Mass Damper) used to mitigate earthquake damage.
• How to use a Surface and Excel to visualize data generated from their Seismographs and from the tuned mass damper
• 21st century technical skills typically used by mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and data scientists.
